Battling the wind at Teal Lake
July has been an exciting month for Bourbon Sprawl. After playing late into the night at the Longshot Saloon in Marquette on Friday, July 10th, we woke early to compete in the Ironstock Music Challenge Finals. It was sunny, but incredibly windy at Teal Lake for the Pioneer Days celebration. We had to use heavy weights to hold the drums down and turn our speaker cabinets on their sides to prevent them from rolling off the stage on their casters. We were competing against Nixxon Dixxon for $1000 cash prize, but we were battling the wind as we played.
Nixxon Dixxon played after us, and sounded great. The points were tallied; the suspense was built up; and…. the winner was… Bourbon Sprawl. So after a bit of drama from the parents of the other band, we set up again and played until just before The Blue Notes marched down the street and performed for the crowd. We’d like to wish Nixxon Dixxon well in all their future endeavors. Thanks again to The Negaunee Irontown Association!
